Hello everyone! I had an interview with Janet Charchuk this week. Janet Charchuk is on the VATTA committee.
Janet, how was your interview in your home City in PEI?
It went really great. I spoke about my passion for helping other people, what I do with mentoring, as well as advocating for different issues in community – for example, housing, employment, and transportation. My favourite part is showing people what things I have done that will help them.
Tell us more about you!
I am a person who will stand up and fight for I what believe in. I will never back down or give up I will keep trying until someone hears me. I speak up for people who cannot speak up for themselves that means I am an advocate. I love sports and help others. I love being me and I am happy. Besides being in sports and advocating I do a lot of things for me like going to church, going to doing lots things in my community.
I am in a number of different sports in and I love it and I have fun while doing it. My favourite sport is swimming. Right now I am doing more sports for the summer.
I had lots of different jobs but now I am helping with daycare which is my dream job. I love kids. I want to teach them all about having a healthy lifestyle. I love my job.
I love living in my new house. I helped advocate for a house in Alberton. I went to our town council to talk about the housing issues for people with disabilities. After a few tries, they approved it! My parents helped me with this, and my dad was on a committee. We all helped make the building of this house a reality. The best part was that I moved out of my parent’s house. It is pretty awesome living in the Alberton House.
I have wonderful family who do anything for me. My mom and dad are George and Jackie. I also have a sister, Susan and a great brother, Alex. Alex lives in a small community outside of Alberton called Montrose, and my sister lives St. John New Brunswick. My parents are now retired teachers but my mom likes to teach university and my dad likes to invent things.
Janet, what do you do for fun?
For fun I do lots of things: I scrapbook, dance for exercise, listen to music, sing, swim, go to the movies, go shopping, sometime read and write, kayak, canoe, hike, kick box, and hang out with friends and everyone I live with.
What are you doing in your life?
I try to enjoy life when I can. I volunteer, make new friends every day, and learn something new each and every day. I am learning how to live on own, with supportive staff who help us. I try very hard to see positive side of things. My parents support me too in making good choices.
