How To Get Involved

Are you an artist with Down syndrome? Do you like to create art? Perhaps you are a skilled illustrator, photographer or painter? Perhaps you write stories or poems? If this sounds like you then you should apply for the Jane Cameron Award. Jane was an amazing Canadian artist with Down syndrome. Jane liked to make tapestries, paint and write poems.  She won juried competitions, and her work has been included in exhibitions that travelled across Canada. Jane’s art has also been presented in magazines and books, and some hangs in the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa.

In Jane’s memory the Canadian Down Syndrome Society awards artists who demonstrate artistic talent. Occasionally we offer a cash prize, and always provide a certificate of accomplishment from the Canadian Down Syndrome Society.

How It Works:

Volunteer representatives evaluate the submissions and agree upon an award recipient, who will be notified by email. The winner is announced and celebrated on our website, in 3.21 Canada’s Down Syndrome Magazine, and on social media.

We plan for the judging to occur each year in October. We require a minimum of five entrants each year to proceed with the competition. Encourage your friends to enter too. You can submit your entries at any time and we will contact you via email to let you know when the next competition is happening.
