Making connections brings those needing support together with those who have been there.

New Parent Visiting Program

The New Parent Visiting Program is designed to support local Down syndrome groups interested in implementing a program to help new parents of a child with Down syndrome. The goal of the program is to help build supportive parent and family connections in the Down syndrome community.

If a local group provides it, parents who have experienced the birth of a baby with Down syndrome and are willing to help in the community can participate in the training and orientation program. They could help with community outreach by welcoming new parents and babies with Down syndrome. CDSS has developed the orientation booklet, but we encourage you to reach out to your local Down Syndrome group for a training program.
