Help make your community a better place for Canadians with Down syndrome!
There are so many ways to take part in the many Canadian Down Syndrome Society initiatives and help people with Down syndrome and their loved ones. Through becoming a member of the CDSS community and donating time, resources or funds to CDSS, you can support people with Down syndrome across the country. You also get exclusive resources and publications, access to videos from past conferences, and more.
There are many ways to help, including monthly donations and celebratory donations.
Corporate sponsorship is a key aspect of the Canadian Down Syndrome Society’s fundraising and awareness efforts.
Your individual donations and corporate sponsorships help us create and distribute the information and resources to support people with Down syndrome, their families, and the network of people who support them. CDSS receives no core funding so it is only the donations of Canadians like you that help us support new parents, create inclusive classrooms, encourage inclusive employment, and provide support and comfort at all stages of life.
You make it possible for our staff to answer information requests from parents, families, peers, teachers, medical professionals, media, the public and other stakeholders.
You help cover the cost of printing and posting materials and informational resources like the New Parent Package, Educator Package, Mind and Body, Employer Package, and more.
You directly support self-advocates – adults with Down syndrome. VATTA, or Voices at the Table for Advocacy, is our national steering committee of community leaders who have Down syndrome.
You bring support directly to families, self-advocates and others, by supporting the Canadian Down Syndrome Conference, which takes place in a different Canadian centre every year.
Do you have any fundraising ideas? We’d love to hear from you! Contact us today. You can also help support Down syndrome initiatives such as Go21, the DS Conference, local events and support groups which raise awareness for Down syndrome and creates a stronger community for our members.
“CDSS has helped me “See the Ability” in everyone, especially in myself.”
“Being part of CDSS taught me to be a great self-advocate. It taught me to be myself, be informed, and be confident. I now help people by speaking out.”
